Good Omens review

Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman

Star rating: ★★★★ ☆ 4/5 stars

Format: library eaudiobook

Summary: An angel and a demon are unlikely friends, they’ve been influencing humans on earth for so long that when the apocalypse is about to begin they work together to stop it.

Review: This was a fun and humorous novel, I’ve been meaning for a long while to read this book but now that the amazon show is coming out I figured now was a good time. I hadn’t read any Terry Pratchett books before, I’ve always intended to so maybe I’ll get there, but I am fairly familiar with Neil Gaiman’s work.

I liked the characters in this book, they were great and captivating. Even though there is a lot going on plot wise, I think there is still enough focus on characters and their development. Sometimes that’s not always the case with more plot heavy books.

I’m no bible expert but I thought what I know of it seemed to mesh well with this book. I wouldn’t say this is a religious book though, it’s definitely a comedy and I think poking fun a bit. I personally don’t think it’s disrespectful, but since I’m not Christian my perspective isn’t really the best to judge.

I did take off one star because the ending felt a little anticlimactic to me. It just felt like so much was building and building and then it was… Done. I mean, I liked Adam and how he played a part in it but it still felt way too easy. Yes, technically the fate of the world was relying on this but then again– it didn’t feel like anything was actually at stake.

Still, it’s a really fun book and I’m looking forward to see how the Amazon prime show turns out.

Recommendation: This book is really fun and funny too, I think it would be a good idea to check out this book before the new show comes out.
