Review: I received a free arc copy of this book from a goodreads giveaway.
I could keep reading this book forever, there are so many fun storylines to discover within. I made sure to read through at least four or five storylines and their endings to get more of a feel for this book. This book was just so much fun.
Satire drops off the pages, it pokes fun at the romance genre in a really entertaining way. For example, one ending you can end up with the post master and the book makes a comment about the skill of his tongue from licking so many stamps/envelopes. Also the number of times the dreamy Scottish man’s genitals are referenced as a caber are so hilarious and killed me every time.
So basically we’ve got Regency, the reader controls the actions of the protagonist, and hilarious smut. It’s bad in a purposeful and hilarious way– where everyone is in on the joke. It’s just so much fun, I don’t want to give away too many storylines but some different genres pop up within the pages.
I will give one more thing away, I was so very excited to find that there’s a point when one of the love interests ends up being another woman. That was such a great surprise! I honestly was not expecting that from this book and I was just so pleased. There are a lot of great surprises in this book and I’m sure with rereads I will find even more.
This is definitely a book I could come back to and reread over and over again, there are so many possibilities for this. I didn’t want to force myself to read each and every storyline/ending. I wanted the ability to return to this book and pick it up, finishing a storyline in an afternoon or evening. Which you can do with this book.
Recommendation: If you are a Jane Austen fan, fan of the regency era or romance fan in general, this is such a fun book to read. I had such a good time reading it.
